It is a beautiful example of John Rogers & Son transferware china, made in Staffordshire in the mid-19th Century. The image is an Indian scene based on an engraving.
The Gate leading to a Musjed at Chunar Ghur. This image in Rogers china has come to be known as the "Camel" pattern. The Rogers pottery company was famous for their high quality, light pottery. The platter is impressed on the back with "Rogers 18" (see detail photo of back). There is a 2 hairline crack on the right hand side of the platter (see detail photo) and a few tiny glaze imperfections that are hardly visible.Otherwise this platter is in very good condition.
